A survey, done with 2,000 Americans, revealed what they think the health trends of 2025 will be. The major ones among them will be cutting out processed foods (34%), healthy ageing (33%) and improving gut health (22%). Other trends include using wearable technology (22%) and AI (21%) in healthcare, as well as growing interest in approaches to functional health (20%).
Struggles that need to be taken care of
Despite these aspirations, Americans rate their overall health at just 6/10 on average. A significant 64% report struggling to stay awake during the day, and 31% would trade a year of social media use for feeling physically better. Notably, 90% of respondents have health-related resolutions for 2025, such as exercising more (53%), maintaining a healthy weight (49%), and enhancing digestion (26%).
Gut health emerged as a central theme, with 43% experiencing digestive discomfort twice daily, while 6% face such issues throughout the day. Most individuals (83%) agree that a healthy gut is vital for overall wellness, estimating that improving their gut health could boost their quality of life by 46%. However, confusion persists, with 66% admitting a lack of understanding about probiotics and their benefits, despite 33% taking them regularly. An area that needs more awareness and education for all.
A healthy shift for a better future
The study highlights a growing shift toward holistic health. Dr. Adam Perlman, Pendulum’s chief medical officer, emphasized the importance of addressing gut and metabolic health to achieve lasting wellness. While respondents spend an average of $588 annually on supplements, 14% would pay $10,000 for a total health reset.
Predicted health trends also include improving metabolism (18%), embracing health minimalism (9%), and dietary shifts like being vegetarian (6%) or trying the carnivore diet (5%). The findings underscore a collective desire for deeper, more informed approaches to wellness in the coming year.
