Farm Rio expands global presence with new store in West Hollywood

New Farm Rio store in West Hollywood

Five years after opening its first New York boutique and two years after its Los Angeles debut in Venice, fashion and lifestyle brand Farm Rio has launched a second Los Angeles store in West Hollywood at 8551 Melrose Avenue. This new 1,690-square-foot location marks the brand’s growing global popularity, building on its 100+ stores in Brazil and presence in prestigious international retailers like La Samaritaine in Paris and Liberty in London. Farm Rio has also hosted pop-ups across the US and Europe.

Katia Barros, co-founder of Farm Rio, attributes the brand’s success in California to its alignment with the state’s laid-back yet stylish lifestyle. Barros notes that Farm Rio’s designs, embodying the carefree yet chic Californian vibe, have resonated strongly with the local market.

Tailored for success

Reflecting on the brand’s rapid rise in popularity, Barros expresses surprise and pride. She credits the authenticity of Farm Rio, which encapsulates the spirit of Rio de Janeiro, celebrating the city’s energy, culture, and natural beauty. This unique blend has captivated customers globally, spreading optimism through its vibrant clothing.

Farm Rio’s stores are designed to immerse customers in Brazilian culture. The store ambiance, featuring wood racks, knitted fitting rooms, and popular soundtracks, creates a welcoming environment that showcases the diverse expressions of Brazilian art and culture.

Expansion plans

Expanding its US footprint, Farm Rio plans to open new stores in Brooklyn and Washington D.C., with future locations in Chicago, San Francisco, and Dallas. Internationally, the brand recently launched its first Parisian boutique and plans to open in Dubai. Further expansion includes new stores in the UK, Greece, Turkey, and several Latin American countries, including Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, and Peru.

Farm Rio has seen significant sales growth, with a 102% increase from 2019 to 2023. In 2023 alone, sales rose by 20%, reaching $117 million. Looking ahead, Farm Rio aims to diversify its offerings. Recent launches include capsule collections for children and men, with upcoming releases in tablescapes and an expanded footwear line. Sustainability remains a priority, highlighted by the brand’s B Corp Certification, as Farm Rio commits to responsible practices across its operations.
