Am I ageing too soon? Navigating health challenges in a fast-paced world

Is Gen Z ageing fast?

As a member of Generation Z, I’ve stumbled upon an intriguing viral complaint. We’re perceived as ‘ageing like milk’ and hence found ourselves being mistaken for, infact, being older people. In fact, 26 yr old influencer Jordan Howlett announced that often he is mistaken for much older. It is superficial but there are, however, some data suggesting there could be a grain of truth in it.

Some not so nice findings

Researchers unveiled unsettling findings at an international cancer conference. Unfortunately, in the case of teenagers detected with specific tumors this is not just a result of skin aging, but effect of premature aging on their cells as a whole. This is largely influenced by the way of life, type of nutrition and environment. In fact, many of those factors are stressors.

The implications are staggering. The risk of onset ageing and cancer is greatly amplified in each successive pregnancy cycle since 1965. Hence, is it true that Gen Z, my contemporaries and I are maturing more rapidly than our older counterparts do so?

The increase in the population of young patients with early-onset cancer and chronic diseases pose a great health problem. Puberty seems to arriving early as well. The culprit? It can be argued that it is a rather complex mix: factors like dieting, obesity, environment pollution, and lifestyle.

We need to work on it

While the causes remain unclear, one thing is certain: we have our health issues at risk. On the other hand, from heart attacks to type-2 diabetes, the proof is going high. And although in the midst of this darkness there’s a light of hope. Scientists are searching for senolytics as possible medicines which will be used for slowing down ageing.

Gen Z required to rely on easy health and well-being processes for dealing with adversities. It’s all summed up in the combination of being smart with your choices, staying active, and maintaining social tie ups. In this light, even if the impending road looks complicated that should not be a matter of concern. This is because science relentlessly works hard to find the causes of ageing.

Thus, going forward, as a Generation Z member, I am seized with a tentative hopefulness with a resolute mindset. Iam sure of overriding the existing difficulties in leading a meaningful life.
