“One Piece” secures top spot in IMDd’s top TV shows of the year
The renowned anime “One Piece” has claimed the number one position in IMDd’s rankings of the best television shows this year, garnering an impressive 9.0 rating out of 10. Surpassing its 1100th episode, this series from Toei Animation has made a significant mark since its debut in 1999, standing out as the sole anime on the list.
Adapted from Eiichiro Oda’s immensely popular manga, “One Piece” has outshined a variety of beloved live-action series, including “The Bear,” “House of the Dragon,” “The Boys,” and “True Detective,” showcasing its broad appeal and enduring popularity.
IMDd’s Top TV Programs of the Year
Hulu’s acclaimed live-action adaptation, “Shōgun,” has captured the second highest spot on IMDd’s annual list with a rating of 8.7. Following closely are the revived animated classic “X-Men 97” and the Emmy-awarded sitcom “The Bear,” which secured third and fourth places, respectively.
The list continued with a mix of genres, highlighting Prime Video’s “Fallout” in the dystopian category, the superhero-themed “The Boys,” and “House of the Dragon,” a continuation of the “Game of Thrones” saga. Additionally, “True Detective: Night Country,” starring Jodie Foster and Kali Reis, Netflix’s love story “One Day,” and “The Gentlemen” by Guy Ritchie also made notable appearances.
In related news, the live-action version of “One Piece,” which first aired on Netflix earlier this year, has received ample praise, prompting a quick approval for a second season. Due to the sustained success of both the new and original “One Piece” series, Netflix is also commissioning a new anime project based on the classic manga.
