When you think of an e-bike, you usually picture a chunky, bulky frame that screams, “Hey, I’ve got a battery!” But BER, the newest electric bike from Biomega, flips the script. Danish designer Jens Martin Skibsted wanted something different. Something that hides its electric features but still performs like a pro.
Why Hide the Battery?
Skibsted had one main goal: make an e-bike that doesn’t look like an e-bike. “I wanted to conceal that it’s electric,” he says. And honestly, the result looks fantastic. The slim, minimalist design of the BER stands out against other bulky e-bikes. It’s subtle, stylish, and sleek—perfect for commuters who want their bike to blend in, not stand out.
The Slimmest Battery Ever
The key to this design is the battery. The designers found the slimmest battery possible, but one that still packs a punch. With a range of up to 70 miles (though Skibsted admits he hasn’t fully tested it yet), it’s more than enough for most commutes. The battery is tucked neatly inside the bottom tube, and both the top and bottom tubes are the same size for a balanced look. No more bulky frames!
Lightweight & Easy to Charge
Made from lightweight aluminum, the BER weighs just 35 pounds. It’s light enough to carry up to your apartment or onto a train. Charging is a breeze too—the port is cleverly placed under the bike’s front decal, so no more hunting under the frame.
Stylish & Practical
The BER is not just about looks. Built-in lights in the handlebar and seat post make night rides safer. Plus, instead of a greasy chain, it uses a carbon fiber belt drive, perfect for those who want to ride in their office clothes.
A Bike for the Future
With e-bike demand soaring, especially in the U.S., the BER aims to replace more cars on the road. And with this much style and practicality, who wouldn’t want to make the switch?
